The Ultimate Checklist for Your Wedding Photo Shoot: What to bring, what not to forget!

There is so much to remember during the lead up to your wedding photo shoot. There are vendors to book, flowers, cake and dress fittings, not to mention the ceremony, reception and after-party. Amidst all this chaos it can be tricky to keep track of all the little details that make your wedding special. That’s why we’ve put together this ultimate checklist for your wedding day photo shoot! From bringing the right outfit and accessories to double-checking that you don’t leave anything behind—check out these tips on what you need to bring and what you should not forget when shooting your wedding photos.

Style is Everything

A lot of what you wear for your wedding photo shoot in Montreal will depend on the season of your wedding and the location of your wedding. So bring a selection of items so that your photographer can help you decide what to wear based on the look that you’re going for. Clothes – For your wedding photo shoot, bring several different outfits in different styles and fabrics. You might want to bring multiple outfits even if you’re only shooting a few wedding shots in one day. Your photographer might suggest something different as the day goes on, and it’s good to have options! Shoes, bring a variety of different shoes, if possible. You might want to bring both casual and dressy shoes, depending on your needs. If you’re having your photos taken outside, you might want to bring some casual, weather-appropriate shoes as well. Accessories, make sure to bring any accessories that you want to include in your wedding photo shoot. This could be something as simple as a necklace or a ring, or something more elaborate like a bouquet or a family heirloom.

Obvious, but still!

Your hair and make-up artist! Even if that happens to be your mom! Have someone on hand who can help you touch up as needed. You may have created a wedding day timeline to help you stay on task and get through your wedding day efficiently. Make sure to bring your wedding day timeline so you don’t forget anything. This may be obvious BUT, don’t forget your wedding rings – It may seem like common sense, but you will want to make sure your wedding ring is on your finger during your wedding photo shoot! If you are having your wedding day photo shoot somewhere a little more whimsical or thematic in Montreal, you may want to bring props, such as champagne flutes or anything else. So pack them up the day before or check with your photographer if he’s the one in charge of those!

Survival Kit

Okay we’re being a little dramatic but it kind of is. This survival kit should have the following items, just in case: a mini version of your lipstick or gloss! Hand sanitizer wipes, nail polish colour for touch ups. Definitely a few safety pins and hair clips. If you have allergies, make sure your epipen is nearby! A sewing needle and some thread, what? You never know when a button could pop off! Of course your survival kit should reflect where your photo shoot is taking place. The more remote the setting the more survival stuff needs to be packaged!

Let’s Avoid Being Hangry On Our Wedding Day

If you’re having your wedding photo shoot at a venue, make sure to order food and beverages for yourself and your wedding party. This will be something that you can eat at any time during your photo shoot. If you’re having your photo shoot in a studio with no food options nearby, then you may want to have food delivered to the studio. Props, decorations and backdrops for your shoot If you’re having your wedding photo shoot in a studio, you may have some items that you want to include in your shoot.
